YOUR PHONE | INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
Contact your cell phone carrier and add international service for September 16–20.
Pack these tech essentials:
Phone charger
Charging cables
Portable battery pack
Earbuds/headphones
Any adapters you may need
We’re going to be taking LOTS of pictures, so nobody needs a dead phone!
FLIGHT DAY
Check in for your flight the day before we leave.
Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure/boarding time.
Give yourself extra time for airline check-in, baggage drop, security and international travel processing.
This is an international trip, so please do not cut your airport arrival time close.
CASH + SHOPPING IN BELIZE
After doing some additional research, things have changed a little since the last time I was in Belize. I’ve spoken with several vendors as well as Katie, someone I know who lives there, and the recommendation is to bring some cash with you.
Most larger restaurants accept cards, but some smaller restaurants, fruit stands and local vendors may be cash only.
I’m personally planning to bring around $500 in cash. That is probably more than I’ll need, but I’d rather have it and not need it. Please bring whatever amount feels comfortable for you.
We’ll also have opportunities to shop. The last time I was there, the ladies found some really nice purses, perfumes and other goodies, so you may want to save a little spending money for that!
QUICK MONEY CONVERSION | USD → BELIZE DOLLARS
Belize dollars are easy to estimate: $1 USD ≈ BZ$2.
$5 USD ≈ BZ$10
$10 USD ≈ BZ$20
$20 USD ≈ BZ$40
$50 USD ≈ BZ$100
$100 USD ≈ BZ$200
To convert Belize dollars back to U.S. dollars, divide by 2. Example: BZ$40 ≈ $20 USD.
AMAZON LIST | TAKE A LOOK BEFORE YOU PACK
I created an Amazon list with items that may be helpful for the trip:

Two things are an absolute MUST: BUG SPRAY and SUNSCREEN.
Please make sure you bring both!
SAFETY WHILE WE ROAM
We may split into smaller groups for dinner, shopping or exploring. If we do, at least 2–3 ladies must travel together. No one should be heading out alone.
